Nominations for any of the above posts should be sent to the Returning Officer, William Greene, at 24 Burns Avenue, Oswaldtwistle, Accrington, BB5 4RB to arrive not later than midnight on Tuesday 8th November 2005. Nominations may be sent by email to bill.greene@btinternet.com, but if the nomination is sent by email a signed copy must also be sent by post.
Candidates are allowed to submit a manifesto of one side of A5 paper, which must also be sent to the Returning Officer by midnight on Tuesday 8th November 2002. In the event of a contested election, the manifesto circulated will be reproduced directly from the artwork submitted. No further printed election material is permitted.
The nomination form can be downloaded in Microsoft Word (DOC) and Acrobat (PDF) format. Nominations must be proposed by one member, seconded by another and signed by the candidate indicating his or her agreement to stand. To make it easier for nominations to be completed, it is acceptable for the signatures of the candidate and of the proposer and seconder to be on three separate pieces of paper sent in three different envelopes, provided that all arrive by the deadline and that the name of the candidate and the office(s) for which the nomination is for are clearly printed on each form.
All of the above posts are open to job-share by two members of LDMF. In this case, the nomination form submitted by the candidates and those submitted by the proposer and seconder if different must all clearly state the names of both candidates who wish to stand as a job-share.
Note that everyone nominated for an executive post and everyone proposing or seconding a nomination must be both a current member of LDMF and a current member of the Party. It is the candidate’s responsibility to check this.
In the case of contested elections, there will be a postal ballot of all members, except for the Regional Co-Ordinators who will be elected by the members in the relevant Region. Ballots may be returned by post by midnight on Friday 25th November 2005 or at the start of AGM on Saturday 26th November 2005 at which there will be a hustings session for the post of Chair.
In the case of uncontested elections, there shall be an election between the single candidate and re-open nominations at the AGM only.
For full details of the election regulations, please refer to Article 4 of the LDMF Constitution and Section A of the LDMF Standing Orders. Job descriptions of the posts are in Section C of the Standing Orders. If you have any queries, please contact me.
