Kashmir: present and future prospects - Harrogate Conference Fringe Meeting with Lib Dem Muslims Forum

Harrogate International Centre
Queens Suite 6
18.15 Saturday 3rd March
Second Draft European Parliament Report.
A Review, Update and Consultation with EU Rapporteur Baroness Emma Nicholson of Winterbourne MEP.

This Planned Fringe Meeting has generated some excitement in some Towns and especially in Towns where the President of Azad Kashmir is currently Touring and holding large meetings

It has been reported back to me that some members in one such Northern Town have read the email below to mean as giving out an open invitation to any Kashmiris to attend this Fringe Meeting. I am writing to give clarifications to party members and activists on this matter.

The Fringe Meeting is organised at our Party Conference in Harrogate and is subject to all the Party protocols and security arrangements. That means it is open to all Party members.

However, Party members may bring some non-party members as their invited guests using your judgement whether there is a need to do this given all the campaigning that has been going on this report on Kashmir in your areas. The Forum would require advance notice to approve such invitations in order to satisfy the normal Party security arrangements at the conference. Members are cautioned to only invite one or two responsible representatives from viable organisations representing Kashmiri Issues and Kashmiri People in your area. There will not be too much space in the room to accommodate everybody.

Any further Questions can be directed to me. Thank you.
